We are grabbing a bite at Dominick’s our favorite pizza place and saw a new bottle in the cooler. It’s a non-alcoholic beer called Kaliber, brewed by Guinness. I couldn’t bring myself to get one. It’s kind of odd that they even make it. Have you ever had it?
Odd find at our local pizza place.
March 28th, 2010Guinness at MUGS
March 23rd, 2010We’re checking out Mugs in Raritan and were delighted to find these replica Guinness’s Porter glasses circa 1903. They just got the dark stuff on tap and we may just be hanging around here a bit more!
This is kind of dangerous as this place is a few blocks from Dan’s house.
We just finished diner (photos below). We are all happily stuffed. We will definitely be back!
The New Deck Tavern – Philly
March 23rd, 2010After attending a conference all day at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, I worked up quite an appetite (and thirst). I convinced my colleagues to head over to, tons of free peanuts, traditional Irish cuisine, (Bangers and Mash) and of course a pint of my favorite stout.
So for all of you lucky Penn folks who happen to be in the area, be sure to stop by The New Deck for a Guinness. As for the rest of us, I guess we’ll have to be content with just stopping by once in a while.
St. Patrick’s Day Rundown
March 19th, 2010We met up at Mannion’s in Somerville. We were amazed at how many people were at the pub. There was a 40 minute wait for a table, they were only accepting cash at the bar we couldn’t get to, and our favorite bar tender was no where to be seen. After getting pushed around a bit we decided to head to Cryan’s Ale House.
Cryan’s had a $5 dollar cover, but more importantly they weren’t packed. The bar was pretty busy so we got a table. There was a decent band playing, though they played more contemporary than Irish song.
We finally had the chance to celebrate properly with a few pints!
St. Patrick’s Day at Work
March 18th, 2010Working in the agency world has some perks. Yesterday we celebrated St. Patrick’s day the only proper way, with Guinness!
This is one of my co workers doing a pour. I didn’t give him proper instructions so he started drinking a bit early, we do have some corned beef and cabbage in there.
This pour was done at my desk. We may get to enjoy a pint at work, but we still need to get our work done.
Here is one of my co-workers decked out in proper St. Patrick’s Day wear:
Guinness After Work Web Site
March 17th, 2010Just got an email from a marketing firm up in Canada working with Guinness. Looks like they have put together a pretty cool site , guinnessafterwork.com to help you get together with your friends and enjoy a pint. I haven’t had time to look to in-depth at it, but from what I’ve seen it’s done well. Leave your thoughts on the site in the comments. No better day than St. Patrick’s day to set a get together up. Below is their write up on the site:
Guinness After Work. Guinness drinkers are busy people: you work hard and it is often difficult to set up drinks with your best friends – your true friends. And with St. Patrick’s Day being today, an event any true Guinness lover looks forward to each year, there’s no better time for a reunion with your beloved friends and beer!
So with that in mind, we’ve been working on something exclusive for Guinness lovers that’ll help get you out of work for a few hours to enjoy a pint of Guinness with your friends. How you ask? Enter Guinness After Work, a site that helps you plan drinks for your crew, find a special offer on a cold pint of Guinness and even provides some excuses to get you out of the office. Forget the plots and schemes you’ve been sketching out on your napkins and scrap paper, just create an event, invite your friends, and choose one of the many great excuses featured like “Our CEO dumped an important last-minute project on my desk and it’s due tomorrow. This could be big for us!” et voilà! Out of the office and into a great space with your best friends and adored beer!
I love my job!
March 17th, 2010Happy St. Patricks Day Pot O Gold Guinness Pour
March 17th, 2010Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
We spent a while trying to figure out what to do for this special pour. We decided to ponder the age old question: What is at the end of a rainbow? While there may be some gold, or perhaps a leprechaun; if you have any sort of luck there has to be Guinness!
The song on this pour is from a local group: Driscoll & Smith. The song is called: Star of the County Down. We’ve been given permission to use their music, so you’ll be hearing more from them on future pours.
We hope you have a grand St. Patrick’s Day, and raise a pint in the company of those you love. Sláinte!
This is an abomination
